ESWA Sawyers are clearing trails

ESWA Sawyers initially reported finding fewer trees blocking our Wilderness trails, but recent wind events have added more. The USFS assigned ESWA 12 trails in Summit County and 6 trails in Eagle County to keep clear this year. And cleared they have been, at least until more trees fall. Over the course of more than 20 outings, ESWA Sawyers already cleared over 300 trees – and the work continues.

Check out just one account of a recent Sawyer outing that cleared 50 trees in just one morning – great teamwork!

Congratulations to the 10 new ESWA Sawyers who were certified as Class B Buckers at our June training, and two who were re-certified. A huge thanks to the trainers from our colleagues at the Poudre Wilderness Volunteers who came from Ft. Collins to conduct the training.
