The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is attempting to repeal its 2009 Endangerment Finding, which allows, and requires, the EPA to regulate emissions from new motor vehicles and other sources. Revocation of the Endangerment Finding would mean that the EPA will no longer have the authority to regulate greenhouse gases, and all of the greenhouse gas motor vehicle and motor vehicle engine standards promulgated as a result of the Endangerment Finding will be repealed.
With no greenhouse gas vehicle regulation, emissions are expected to increase significantly. The connection between these emissions and global warming is well established. We have all seen the effects of our warming climate on our local Wilderness Areas and the plants and wildlife that live there. If the EPA repeals the Endangerment Finding, our Wilderness Areas will suffer. [note: deadline to submit comments has passed. Thanks to everyone who submitted comments in opposition to repeal the 2009 Endangerment Finding]
