The result of decades of collaboration, CORE would add 20,196 precious acres to our three local Wilderness Areas -- Eagles Nest, Holy Cross, and Ptarmigan Peak. CORE would also create three new local Wilderness Areas in the Tenmile Range, Williams Fork Mountains, and Hoosier Ridge.
Reintroduced in February 2025 by Senators Bennet, and Hickenlooper and Representative Neguse, CORE would protect approximately 420,000 acres of public land in Colorado, providing important buffers for existing Wilderness Areas and protecting habitat and migration routes for wildlife.
CORE would also establish the Tenmile Recreation Management Area with 10,000 additional non-Wilderness acres allowing continued mountain-bike access.
