Thanks to our wild Wilderness volunteers!

As autumn leaves swirl and we get our first taste of snow, ESWA looks back on the year’s accomplishments. Part grateful reflection, part response to the US Forest Service’s need for data (one constant that hasn’t changed): Same reaction – wow and THANKS to our volunteers!
That’s the theme of our Get Wild in the Summit Daily:
Digging into this year's numbers, it’s impressive to see that ESWA volunteers have already spent almost 9,000 hours in service to our local Wilderness Areas - clearing downed trees, hiking and hosting at trailheads, maintaining trails, removing illegal fire rings and campsites, and building bridges (literally and figuratively).
Interestingly, over 4,000 hours were admin - training new VWRs and Sawyers, recertifying volunteers, maintaining and ordering equipment, organizing educational events, fundraising, publications, and serving on the committees that make ESWA's work happen. We're always looking for more volunteers, both indoors and outdoors - contact us.
It was great to catch up with ESWA volunteers at our Annual Fall Meeting and Party on Public Lands Day. And last weekend at our 3rd Annual Wilderness Gathering, it was truly inspiring to join forces with over 70 representatives of 15 Wilderness groups – including 11 of our dedicated USFS rangers!
Thanks for all you do for Wilderness!
