Welcome ESWA VWRs! This is an introduction to a private Facebook group for Eagle Summit Wilderness Alliance Volunteer Wilderness Rangers. It provides a forum for ESWA VWRs to seek guidance from other members and to find hiking/patrolling partners. Feel free to post and ask if anyone would like to join you on a patrol! We support a broad range of discussions but ask that you refrain from political commentary and keep the discussions related to ESWA and the Wilderness.

Although you can post anything that is appropriate and non-political, we ask that you keep the content pertinent to the VWR group. The intent is for this group to allow our VWRs to connect and find partners for hiking and patrolling together. If the discussion diverges from that purpose too much, members will lose interest.
This group is private. You can only join by asking to join by clicking on this link (www.facebook.com/groups/eswavwr/) or by following the QR Code.
After you go to www.facebook.com/groups/eswavwr via the link or QR code, you will be taken to Facebook. At the top of the Facebook group page, you should see in blue “Group by Eagle Summit Wilderness Alliance” as well as a title that says “ESWA VWR Group”. Below that, if you’re not already an accepted member, click on “Join Group” , which is a blue button with white lettering.
If you are already pre approved, you’ll join the group immediately. If not, you’ll see a message that says “Your membership is pending”. We don’t constantly monitor this. If you aren’t approved within 24 hours, please send a reminder to “howdy@wild4eswa.org”.
Once you are approved, you can post or invite other people to the group. If the group doesn’t show up immediately in your Facebook feed, do the following:
If you are using a browser, click on “Groups” in the left hand navigation panel. If the ESWA VWR group doesn’t show up, enter “ESWA VWR” in the “Search Groups” box at the top of the left hand navigation panel. The group should show up in the left hand navigation panel below the heading “Groups You’ve Joined” or “Groups You Manage”. If it doesn’t show up there, then you may need to try to rejoin again. You can always reach the group by using the QR code or entering www.facebook.com/groups/eswavewr in your browser.
If you are using a phone app, click on the menu button in the lower right hand corner of the navigation screen. That should open a navigation menu. Click on the menu item “Groups”. If the ESWA VWR Group doesn’t show up, type “ESWA VWR” in the search bar. You can also hit the magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner of the screen to perform a search.
Once you enter the group, you should get a welcome message and then you may be asked to provide your name and photo. If not, or if you bypass this somehow, you’ll enter into the group. If you’ve been admitted to the group, you should see a prompt that says “Write something…”. If you start to write something in this box, you will be taken to a dialog box or screen that allows you to create a post. Simply write in that box and then click “Post”. On the phone app, “Post” will be in the upper right hand corner of the screen. In a browser, it will be at the bottom of the post dialog box.
If you can’t seem to get this to work, it would be great if you could find a Facebook friend to guide you. However, if all else fails, you can always send an email to “howdy@wild4eswa.org”. Just keep in mind that Howdy is not the internet help desk!
If you believe that any content that is posted is inappropriate, send an email to “howdy@wild4eswa.org”. We may review content and delete it or block members if we feel the group is being misused.
Have a great Summer with lots of Wilderness hikes with friends and family!
Howdy
