Gore Creek Trailhead Reroute

Writer's picture: Howdy!Howdy!

Happy to report that we had a fun and productive eight hours yesterday re-routing the Gore Lake Trail in East Vail. This re-route brings the trailhead away from a curve where cars had to pull out in front of bikes coming down from the Vail Pass rec trail, and also provides a more sustainable (less steep and erosion-prone) start to this popular trail. The re-routed trail now intersects at a different point with the Deluge Lake Trail, ESWA's Adopt-A-Trail.

Thanks to our USFS colleagues, including Mark Steinbrecher, for all of their hard work to make this a productive day. And thanks to our volunteers from ESWA, VVMTA, and the (at least) 10 volunteers Tim Drescher recruited from his co-workers at Eagle River Water and San! Gore Lake is ERWS's Adopt-A-Trail, and yesterday's effort adds to the amazing work they've done over the years to maintain the trail.
