About the event
June 14- Special SOS (Synagogue of the Summit) Trail Project
ESWA will be leading a group of volunteers from SOS to clear brush and logs from Meadow Creek Trail on June 14th. We will meet at the Meadow Creek Trailhead (Exit 203) at 9:30 am. We will work about 3 hours, but volunteers are welcome to leave earlier. We are limited to 15 people in the wilderness, so we would be looking for no more than a dozen volunteers.
We will be hiking up the trail clearing brush with loppers and cutting back trees too close to the trail. The forest service will be constructing a bridge about 3 miles up the trail and they need a 10' wide corridor to haul materials on a pack string. We may also do some minor trail maintenance, e.g.- clearing water bars.
Everyone will work at their own place and we'll take plenty of time to enjoy the wilderness. Please bring lunch or snacks and be sure to bring water. ESWA will supply any necessary tools.
IMPORTANT: You must wear long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy foot ware that is good for hiking while protecting your feet. You must also have some type of eye protection (eyeglasses, sunglasses, safety glasses, etc.), and good gloves. We may have a few pair of gloves to use if you forget yours or don't have any.
