About the event
ESWA will be leading a group of volunteer Sawyers to clear winter deadfall from the Rock Creek and Boss Mine trails North of Silverthorne. This will be a medium difficulty outing with a likelihood of a large amount of deadfall to be cleared. Because of the amount of deadfall and the possibility we will run into snow in shaded areas of the trail, the total hike may be less than normal. We anticipate a round trip hike of around 5 miles.
The road to Rock Creek requires a vehicle with decent clearance. We'll meet at Maryland Creek Dog Park on the North side of Silverthorne @8am and carpool to the Rock Creek TH.
Everyone will work at their own place and we'll take plenty of time to enjoy the wilderness. Please bring lunch or snacks and be sure to bring water. ESWA will supply any necessary tools.
IMPORTANT: You must wear long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy foot ware that is good for hiking while protecting your feet. You must also have some type of eye protection (eyeglasses, sunglasses, safety glasses, etc.), and good gloves. We may have a few pair of gloves to use if you forget yours or don't have any.
Feel free to call or text Zach @ 309-857-6235 with questions.
