Silverthorne, Silverthorne, CO 80498, USA
About the event
Leader: Mike Weeda
Total Distance: 11.6 miles per Cotrex, but my GPS reports closer to 12
Trailhead Elevation: 9,093
Highest Elevation: 12,495
Elevation Gain: 3,658 (round-trip total)
Steepest Grade: 19% (good solid climbing, but not a real gasser)
There will be a post-hike get together at a Silverthorne location, possibly Sauce on the Blue, which has a nice outside space alongside the Blue River.
Parking at the trailhead is limited, but there is plenty of parking at the Silverthorne Outlets about a mile from the trailhead. A few days before the hike, I'll share the list of hikers so folks can connect about car-pooling from the Outlets to the trailhead, or perhaps from farther distances.
On a clear day, Mt. of the Holy Cross, the Williams Fork range and valley, and most of the high points in Summit County are visible from the summit. On a really clear day, the Flat Tops can be seen far to the Northwest. The shot below shows Lake Dillon and the Ten Mile Range from about 1/2 way up the trail.
